Our schedule dictates that PYB students divide into two groups; half of the students are in academics and the other half are working on their vocational training worksite at any given time. After a two-week rotation, they switch.
While the students on worksite rotation this week were busy building houses and video projects, the students who are in academics just went to a special performance of EMERGENCY, a one-man show by Daniel Beaty. Beaty is the recipient of the 2009 NAACP Theater Award and the 2007 Obie Award, and students are seeing his show in conjunction with the National Writing Project's Urban Sites Network Conference which takes place this weekend in Portland.
